People don't like to admit it bcs cringe or w/e but Homestuck really did revolutionize the webcomic as a storytelling medium and I am endlessly frustrated that before webcomic artists could really stretch our legs fucking webtoonz swooped in, set a new, more restrictive standard, and then monetized and monopolized the ever living fuck out of the concept of The Webcomic until it drove away anyone who couldn't be a professional quality manga artist for free, and now the only webcomics that actually feel like spiritual successors to Homestuck are so obscure they're basically cult classics that you have to beg people to read.

Like it's just so wild to be in high school and see Homestuck be like "we're using like fifteen different artistic mediums to tell this story bcs we can" and be really fucking inspired by that, only to grow up and see basically every webcomic ever have to conform to One Single Standard or fucking perish.

Actually, I realized my real point here: we all need to make our art weirder. Please make weird art. I want more stuff like Prequel Adventure and 17776 and MyHouse.wad and I want it now. Capitalism thrives on conformity. We must be weird at all costs.

"Wheelchairs can mean freedom and be life affirming tools" pleaaaaase coexist with "wheelchairs can be dangerous and cause you to get sicker faster"

briarpatch-kids

On the wheelchairs can be dangerous issue, muscles are a use it or lose it kinda deal. If you're not walking because your joints are poorly supported and hurt, you need to be doing extra exercise to prevent atrophy and further pain and suffering. If you're using a wheelchair at all, you need to be familiar with contracture, pressure injuries, digestive issues, and atrophy so you can prevent them. Make sure you're not sitting down all day with your knees bent and then sleeping on your side with your knees bent or they'll get stuck that way. Make sure you have a cushion under your butt at all times in that wheelchair. Keep doing your physical therapy so you don't lose skills. It's not a "don't ever use a wheelchair" it's a "be very careful and make sure you're taking care of yourself because there's more work to do now"

Ambulatory users will have less issues but that doesn't mean they'll have none.

CGI animators should unionize next. normally, their jobs would be too precarious to strike, since studios would replace them without a second thought, but if it's part of this larger general film strike, they might finally have meaningful power to better their working conditions

studentofetherium

if CGI animators unionized, it would kill the MCU. straight up. the the entire business model is built on exploiting CGI animators

THEY ARE TRYING!!!!! SIGN THE PETITION TO GET THE DISNEY ANIMATORS' UNION RECOGNIZED

clustxr

this petition is from IATSE (union), btw! it actually has credibility, unlike most change.org/etc petitions! please sign it!!

internetkatze

The petition has nothing to do with CGI animators, it's actually a petition to get Production workers recognized as part of the Animation Guild. Animation Production is all the non-artist roles; managing, scheduling, keeping track of file versions, archiving work, etc. Without Production roles, no show or movie can get made! But they oft go unrecognized bc they are not Art roles (like animators, storyboarders, concept artists, etc)

It's still a very important petition and you should sign it, but it's unrelated to what OP is talking about. What we want to see in that case is VFX houses unionizing.

It gives me tremendous joy to see people still reading this comic, and especially when they get something out of it.

Over the years I have faced many ups and downs, just like everyone else. Sometimes it really gets to me how mean people can be to each other. How mean I can be to myself.

But for all the Level 1 Trans Fighters out there please know with acceptance, mindfulness, and self compassion I did in fact find my balance. Not a fast process. Basically a complete lifestyle change.

Sometimes I lose that balance, sure. But when I choose to present my authentic identity? I’m objectively drop dead gorgeous.

Here are a hand full of my looks. You’ll notice none of them are 100% masculine or feminine.

Peace be with you.
Thank you for reading.
Thank you for being you.
